2008Junior Golf

Welcome...

To the 2008 Junior Golf season at Brandywine Country Club! We are looking forward to a fun and exciting summer. We welcome back all of our returning junior golfers and extend a warm welcome to our new juniors.

This program has a rich tradition of success teaching children to learn and play the game of golf.  The reason for this programs success are:

  • Dedication of parent volunteers.
  • Commitment of the Golf Committee and Professional staff to the Junior Golf  Program.
  • The enthusiasm of the juniors.

There will be eight instructional clinics to begin the season. It is up to the parents to provide practice time as well as lessons, to teach their children about the rules of golf, ettiquette, and respect for other golfers and the course. Please check the Junior Golf  bulletin board in the golf shop for notices throughout the season.

Remember, it takes everyone's efforts to make this year a successful one. Let's continue to encourage honesty, safety and good sportsmanship!

Sincerely,

George McNamara

Conduct, Attire, and Safety

Proper golf attire is required at all times at the club. Shirts for boys must have collars and be tucked in. Hats must be worn properly. The dress code prohibits short shorts, cut-offs, tank tops, t-shirts, denim shorts and jeans.

The golf course and practice areas are valuable properties. Please care for them by not littering, and obeying the rules of safety and etiquette.

The safety of the players is of primary importance to Brandywine Country Club. Playing conditions that are determined to be hazardous will result in immediate suspension of play (Air Horn - one long 10 second blast)  all players will be removed from the course to safe surroundings as quickly as possible. Play will not resume until safe conditions return. If play were canceled for the day, we would ask that parents be conscientious of this and return to pick up the juniors as soon as possible.

Parent-Member Responsibilities

Brandywine Country Club would like to maintain its' wonderful "family club" environment. The Board of Governors asks parents to realize it is their responsibility to instruct their children as to what is acceptable behavior at our facility. The Club welcomes children and does not want to penalize families who are acting responsibly, however, there is a real necessity to educate parents and children as to what is and is not acceptable behavior.

One area of growing concearn is the behavior on the practice green. The practice green is what the name implies. It is an area to be used by golfers of all ages as a means to improve one's game. It is not intended as a playground for children without proper golf equipment to play on while their parents are on the patio.

Children who use this area should have proper golf equipment and act responsibly. A parent or adult should accompany any child, regardless of age, who is not a qualified Junior. (Qualified Juniors will be determined by the golf shop).

We are very fortunate at BCC to have a practice green so accessible for our members to use. Please help us preserve the expensive, delicate area by educating and supervising your children so that it will remain in top condition for all our members to enjoy.

Golf Cart Rules

Golf cart operators must be at least 16 years of age. No exceptions, please. We strongly ask for parental cooperation.
